The snow finally came

Maya is deep in the snow

The snow that we thought would come yesterday made it here today. We ended up with six-and-a-half inches and the temperature was down to 24 degrees Fahrenheit by the time the snow stopped. The forecast doesn’t call for us to get above freezing for days.

Strange weather indeed for the normally mild Puget Sound. Rest of the pictures available at SmugMug (and, as always, you can click on the picture above to get to them).

hey, you changed your blog! I like your snow pictures – I have a really hard time with that. How do you like smugmug?

I think we got about the same amount of snow in my Maple Valley neighborhood. Hope I can get out by this weekend – I haven’t done ANY xmas shopping. ack!

  2. Thanks, Jules. My problem with snow pictures–well, my biggest problem, anyway–is that I am indiscriminate. I just take pictures of everything.

I’m still trying to decide about SmugMug. They’re excellent at what they are (a site where the main organizing principle is galleries rather than a photostream like Flickr). And that’s something I was looking for again. But I miss the social aspects of Flickr. Well, I kind of miss them–it’s pretty easy to go from benefit to annoying obligation, but I do wish there were a better way to keep track of photographers on SmugMug. For now, I am creating “imaginary” friends on FriendFeed. That’s pretty tedious.

But I do like the presentation of the pictures much more and the opportunity to customize things (I haven’t done any of that yet).

We’re OK with our Christmas shopping but we’re worried about getting food for Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner–there’s that other storm coming in on the weekend and we’re at the bottom of a steep hill that never gets plowed or sanded so even if the main streets are clear we might not be able to get there. And I don’t look forward to bringing a big load of groceries home on the bus. And I don’t have studded tires for my bike because, hey–when does the snow ever last more than an hour or two around here?
